Second challenger to face Vancouver city councilor Stewart

first_imgAlishia Topper Vancouver City Councilor Jeanne Stewart has drawn a second opponent.Alishia Topper, 34, announced her candidacy on Tuesday.Filing week starts Monday at the Clark County Elections Office. Candidates may also file online at, senior director of development for the Fort Vancouver National Trust, said her priorities are public safety and security, economic viability and sustaining the city’s parks and open spaces.Topper said she supports the Columbia River Crossing.“I see the need for a safe new bridge, but that decision is going to be made in Olympia before this election,” Topper said. If state lawmakers approve funding and the megaproject stays on schedule, Topper said, the council needs to address concerns about what impacts construction will have on downtown businesses.“If we don’t build the bridge, we’re going to have to have a plan for how we are going to move forward,” she said.Topper and her husband, Ryan, live in the Hough neighborhood.
